Infertility treatment
There are several types of stimulation drugs which are usually combined. They come as nasal sprays or injections, which are applied subcutaneously (under the skin).
A negative pregnancy test is always the reason to cease using them. Do not stop the treatment alone, always consult with your doctor.
The first day is approx. the 11th or 12th, but an ideal test is a blood-based one 14 days after ET. Concerning IUI, testing can be done after delayed menstruation. It is crucial to repeat the test and arrange for an ultrasound control which checks for ectopic pregnancy.
This depends on the type of treatment and intensity of hormonal stimulation. Usually, it is good to wait 2-3 cycles. This gives the ovaries time to recuperate and react well in the next stimulation.
A normal spermiogramme result is at least 15 million sperm cells in 1 ml of ejaculate, 32% of which are progressively mobile and 4% of which are normally shaped. Spermiogramme results may vary in time, so in case of an abnormal result, it is recommended that you repeat the test after 1 – 3 months.
The circumstances are important. If the pregnancy was terminated in its early stage and the miscarriage was without complications, it is possible to try again immediately. You should, however, consult your health with a doctor. If the miscarriage required a surgical intervention, a 3 - 4 month break is recommended. If you want to try to conceive again after giving birth, the wait depends on the kind of birth. A spontaneous birth only requires an interval of 6 months, in case of a caesarean section the interval should be 12 months. Note that you should not breastfeed at the beginning of the therapy.
