REPROgnostics is an advanced method of examination of the uterine mucosa, suitable especially for patients with repeated failure of embryo implantation (so-called RIF) and also for patients after repeated abortions. This method can examine the following:
- uterine NK cells to rule out the immunological cause of infertility
- uterine plasma cells to rule out chronic inflammation of the uterine lining
During the examination, we first take a sample of the uterine mucosa using a thin 3 mm wide plastic tube - a pipelle, which is inserted through the cervix into the uterine cavity. Collection of the sample does not hurt, the feeling is comparable to the feeling when examining the cervix – for collection of cytology specimen. The sample is then sent for immunohistochemical analysis and the test results are usually available within two weeks.
A sample of the uterine mucosa is taken between day 19th and day 24th of the cycle (for women with a 28-day cycle). In case we examine only the plasma cells, the collection can be performed just after menstruation.
Depending on the results of the examination, we will start treatment with antibiotics for inflammation of the lining of the uterus or we will introduce corticoid therapy with an increased number of NK cells.
