Myomas are benign tumors growing in the uterine wall which consists of smooth muscle. They occur more often in women nearing the end of their reproductive age. They may or may not affect the inability to get pregnant. It depends on the size of the myoma and its location in the uterus. Myomas don't always cause problems, sometimes they only have to be monitored during periodic examinations. The most typical display of myomas is excessive uterine bleeding.
